3 Pom Poms
Have you ever made Pom Poms? They are really cute and heaps of fun to make! It’s one of those things that you can do without concentrating and I love it. 🙂 Lately I have churned out a few made with different methods. We have one of the Pom Pom makers that is a round disk (like this one) and every time you want to make a pompom you have to cut a piece of wool and wind it up to put it through the hole because the whole ball of wool won’t fit through. I wanted something that would be easier and also fast. I have found two methods that I like:
1. A fork makes great fluffy, small Pom Poms :
2. For a bigger one, a homemade cardboard rectangle with a hole in the middle works well:
Similar to the fork, wrap the wool around the cardboard and then thread a spare piece of wool through the hole and around the Pom Pom. Tie as tight as possible and then cut the wool through the loops to take it off the cardboard.
And if you really want the third one…….
Have you ever had lots of small bits of wool that you don’t know what to do with?
The solution is a giant Pom Pom. It takes up less space than 20 thousand small ones and it also is really cool.
Here are some helpful tips before you do:
Sort your colours into an order you like
DON’T use fluffy wool, it looks awful
Try and just use nice colours, adding the ones you don’t like doesn’t work
For an example of what not to do:
Delle and I spent a whole day making this pompom and it turned out to be really UGLY. We had fun doing it, but I can confidently say it was a waste of wool and it looks horrible, it isn’t even round and all the fluffy wool leaves fluff everywhere. It is quite funny though….. 🙂
