DIY Spring Fabric Dyeing

004 010 023013 019 032 036A few months ago, I pinned this tutorial (part one, part two) on dyeing fabric with flowers. Since then, I have been looking forward to spring and its beautiful flowers so that I could give it a go! My friend Elie came over today and we decided to try it out. The flowers have to soak for a full two days before their colours are set on the fabric, but I wanted to post the photos for you because they were so pretty!

cut lots of fresh coloured flowers
cut a piece of calico and wet it with warm water
lay the flowers out on the fabric and make a little package, tied up with string
place the package in a jar of water
leave the jar open and put it somewhere in full sun for two days (apparently the water will go green and dirty but it’s all okay)
after two days take the package out of the jar
hand wash with normal soap
admire 😉

I am super excited to see how it goes and I’ll do a post in a couple of days and let you know how it went!
